Ahh Jedrej, to fully understand pain, one must be aware of the complete masochism associated with pixeling. Without pain and patience, one will never learn the way of the pixel.
Hah, just jokin' with you man. Tis not pixeling, tis dirty pixeling, heh, heh. Looks good though...

yeah, i hear you. i really wish i had the perseverance to pixel properly.

hey, quick question. was pixeling still images for arcade games in the late 90s more a necessity or a choice? they don't still have to do that, right?

Well, it depends on the engines the games were running off of. There are certain restrictions to certain things, like your older gameboys, snes's and what not. Even certain older consoles dictated the amount of colors or pixels, like a max of 4 unique colors per 10x10 tile, or whatever. As far as late 90's, I'm sure it was probably an Aesthetic choice, rather than technical. But you'd be hard pressed to find anything 2d as it won't sell to the younger demographic. After all, folks now a days automatically think higher res means better game, and anything 2d is left to drown, despite how authentic they may be compared to the many boring 1st person shooter clones out there.

I'm no resolution junkie, neither am I a pixel pro either. But I have a brief and general understanding over what is and isn't pixel art. Unfortunately, pixel art here at DA is at a decline, though some people are actually taking hold of it's community once again, and beginning to give hope, rather than the horrid furries, and cutesy images that people mistake pixel art for. Either way, no biggie, just keep makin' the artz, and make us sex our pants, or whatev'...
